A Study on Effects of the Gatekeeper Training in Seoul

Abstract

|
Objective£ºThis study examines the effect of gatekeeper training on the misconception and prejudice about suicide which play a decisive role to detect suicidal person early and establish liaison.
Method : From January to May in 2014, the study performs the 3 hour training for 4,090 graduates of the ¡®gatekeeper training program¡¯ in the Seoul Suicide Prevention Center and 25 local mental health centers to verify the change in misconception and prejudice about suicide during the gatekeeper training in Seoul mainly developed by the Seoul Suicide Prevention Center in 2012. Based on this, the paired samples ttest is performed through SPSS 18.0 to test the changes between before and after the gatekeeper training.
Result : As a result of the paired samples t-test for ¡®the misconception about suicide¡¯before and after the gatekeeper training, there is a statistically significant difference.
Conclusion : The gatekeeper training developed by Seoul City leads a statistically significant difference in decrease of misconception and prejudice for suicide, the important factor for suicide prevention.
